Map Skills 1

Students will first read a passage about features of a map, found on page 171 of their textbook (Illinois and Our Nation, Volume 2).

After the reading, students will complete the Interactive Journal Page on Map Features.  They will create a "flat page" with a Map of Illinois on the left side, and the Features Foldable on the right side.  After adding illustrations and definitions, students will also identify each of the features on the map of Illinois using numbers.

There is also a worksheet with 5 questions, asking the students to use their new map skills.  This could be used for a grade, for homework or as guided practice.  An Answer Key for this worksheet is also available.
