For this project, students will be creating a 3D timeline, using index cards, string and clothespins. The timeline will include several of the historical events and people that have been studied during this unit about Illinois history. Teachers can determine if students will work individually, in partners or small groups. If students finish early, they can always add more events to their timeline beyond the required five.
Each student will need an Illinois Timeline Project Packet which explains the requirements and provides a draft template for their timeline. The teacher will need to provide all of the materials listed in the packet (index cards, string, clothespins and coloring tools).
There is also a grading rubric for this project. It is meant to be used as a project-based summative assessment for the History Unit.
