Biography Slideshow

The purpose of this project is for students to research the Justices of the Supreme Court of the United States of America.

First, each student (or small group of students) should be assigned one of the nine Justices of the United States Supreme Court.  This can be achieved by letting the students picks, assigning the Justices or letting the students/groups pick out of a hat.

Each student will receive a graphic organizer to help them take notes on the information they research about the Supreme Court Justice they are studying.

A "Who's Who" Powerpoint provides kid-friendly links and information about each Justice.  These resources should be enough for the students to complete their graphic organizers.  I would recommend using considerable caution when allowing students to do any other independent research on the Justices (especially Justice Thomas and Justice Kavanaugh) because previous allegations against these men will likely turn up some inappropriate information.  You can add links to the powerpoint, print articles or gather other resources as you see fit.

The final project for this unit is to create a Biography Slideshow on the Justice students study.  A template is available for students to edit and customize.  You would need to make copies and share the template with each student using GoogleDrive.

A rubric is available for grading of this final project.
